Summary: Using economic modeling and freight flow software packages, this research seeks to identify impacts to the Gulf Coast region from the Port of Mobile to the Port of New Orleans. Current economic areas of distress (1st and 2nd tier) will be identified and quantified. Freight flow and shipping adaptations will be analyzed with an emphasis on low cost rerouting and employment stabilization.
